I was walking outside a while back and I walked near my poor neglected flower bed. I made a mental note that I needed to weed it and take care of pruning some old dead hibiscus plants. The poor trees didn’t make it through our harsh winter. I debated for a long time whether or not to just uproot them and plant something new, or just prune them back. Well, days turned into weeks and weeks into months and I didn’t have a chance to do either. I was barely keeping up with school, extra circular activities etc… So I forgot about them. They became something I was accustomed to looking past each day. Just a few days ago I walked outside to check our mail and gasped (yes I’m easily amused, ha!)
I looked and there she was. A beautiful blooming flower from what appears to be the start of a new hibiscus plant from a dead one. I know this may sound silly, but it brought to mind the scripture
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
There it was: Living proof that God cares about everything. I’ve done nothing to help this plant live, and here it is, life coming from death. And if He cares about everything, how much more he cares about you and I? I love that He has put in me a new heart. One that is sensitive to the tiniest of things. Sure I may overlook a lot, but when God slows me down to show me His hand at work, I can’t help but be utterly amazed and thankful!
Ezekiel 36:25-27 Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also willI give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgements and do them.
My prayer: God, help me to keep my heart pure. Help me to see others the way you see them. Help me to love like you love and serve like you serve. Help me to become more Christ like and help me to make heaven my home!
It was so wonderful to see my family in church today. I love each one of these people so very much! Continue praying for my dad. He starts chemo Tuesday and I’m praising God for the mighty miracle that he is doing in his body and life!
